Ministry
This ministry is committed to the wellness of the parish as a community
and individuals in need. The
goal of Health Ministry is to carry on Jesus’ healing mission through an
organized program of services that offers health counseling, advocacy,
referral, and education. Health
and wholeness of the body, mind and the spirit are the focus of health
ministry efforts.
Health Ministry is Not Just for Health Professionals!

Health and Wellness Committee:
A
committee of health professionals and concerned others who plan,
organize, support, and evaluate activities that promote health within
the faith community. New
Members Always Welcome.

Bereavement
Support:
A bi-yearly support group
that meets over a period of six to eight weeks focusing on the
educational and supportive needs of bereaved persons.* A
yearly Mass of Remembrance for persons who have suffered the loss of a
child through miscarriage, abortion, SIDS, illness, trauma, military
service or any other untimely death.

Parish
Nurse Ministry:
A (free) professional
service offering care, presence, and support to individuals and groups
with specific health and wellness issues. The parish nurse sees
clients in their homes, area hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted
living facilities, serving them in a variety of ways: |

a Personal
Health Counselor, discussing health concerns, assessing needs
and issues, making recommendations, facilitating
interventions, evaluating care.

As
an Educator,
providing health /wellness teaching for individuals and
groups. Addressing
educational issues across the life span.

As
a Resource/Referral
Agent, providing assistance to better understand care options in the
community. Connecting
clients to available resources.

As
a
Health
Advocate, guiding clients through today’s healthcare
maze. Interfacing,
when needed, with their healthcare provider.

As
a Coordinator
of Volunteers, recruiting, organizing, and training
volunteers to meet identified parish needs
|

As
Pastoral
Partner, modeling the relationship of faith to health. |

Parishioners
who are hospitalized:
Bryn Mawr, Lankenau and Paoli Hospitals have a Confidentiality
Policy and as a result, the parish does not know that a
parishioner is hospitalized unless you or someone else tells us.
Please call the Parish office if you would like a hospital visit or a
remembrance in our prayers.

Senior Exercise Program-
Wednesdays 10-11a.m. St. Thomas of Villanova Parish
Center, New members welcome at any time! ( Programming in
cooperation with St. Thomas of Villanova)
Mother's Community-Building Group:
St. Thomas of Villanova Parish Center - new members (mothers and
children) welcome at any time! ... a community building group with
speakers on topics of interest to mom's both at home and working. We
meet Oct. through May the first Tuesday of each month. Contact
person is Allison Miller 610-525-8337.
Parish Nurse Assistance:
Health Counseling, Advocacy, Community Referral and
Support.
Home, hospital or nursing home visits as well as telephone consultation.
